Friday Keynote: George Couros

George Couros is a leading educator in the area of innovative leadership, teaching, and learning. He has worked with all levels of school, from K-12 as a teacher, technology facilitator, and school and district administrator, and is the author of the book, The Innovator’s Mindset; Empower Learning, Unleash Talent, and Lead a Culture of Creativity. He is a sought after speaker on the topic of innovative student learning and engagement and has worked with schools and organizations around the globe. George is also the creator of Connected Principals.com, an initiative that brings educators and leaders together from around the world to create powerful learning opportunities for students.  

Although George is a leader in the area of innovation, his focus is always on the development of leadership and people and what is best for learners. His belief that meaningful change happens when you first connect to people’s hearts, is molded in his writing and speaking. Administrator Track

PSAHPERD is pleased to offer an Administrator Track for this year's convention 

Following the keynote, lunch will be provided during an administrator-geared breakout session lead by Couros. A panel discussion will follow with leading experts in health and physical education. Topics will focus on quality health and physical education programming and execution under today's challenges and budget constraints. 

The day will conclude with a screening of the educational documentary, Most Likely To Succeed

Thursday Pre-convention 

Pre-convention workshops are offered in a half or full day format. Act 48 is available along with certifications in some workshops. When registering, you can select one AM and PM session, or one full day session. 

Morning Sessions 8:00am - 12:00pm

(PC1) Taste of SPARK: 
Elementary Physical Educators

SPARK K-6 uses standards-based activities and methodology including technology and core subject integrations. One free SPARK digital curriculum will be raffled during the session (must be present to win.)

(PC2) Creating a Healthier School Culture

Complete a school wellness assessment, learn strategies to strengthen your school's wellness policy and practices, and learn about grant funding opportunities.  

(PC3) American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED Certification

Be prepared to respond with training from the American Red Cross. This Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification course will be offered through a Blended Learning platform. Blended Learning combines online learning and in-person skills session.  

(PC4) High School Health Assessments, Tech Integration and Student Groups 

Learn how to freshen up health class with new assessment ideas, engaging activities and tips successfully integrate technology in your classroom. New and unique ways to group and organize students will be covered in this session. 

Afternoon Sessions 1:00 - 5:00 pm 

(PC5) Taste of SPARK: Middle & High School Physical Educators 

SPARK 6-12 uses standards-based activities and methodology to promote technology and character integrations. One free SPARK digital curriculum will be raffled during the session (must be present to win.)

This half-day session will focus on current issues and trends in Health and Physical Education at the state, regional and national level. Interactive presentations followed by a question and answer will be utilized and applicable to all K-12 educators and those in higher education and community organizations .
