The Future for Future Professionals!

SHAPE PA is excited to announce a new committee designed to meet the needs of our future professional members! The Future Professionals Advisory Committee (FPAC) is composed of a student representative from five Pennsylvania universities with Health and Physical Education teacher preparation programs; East Stroudsburg University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Lock Haven University, Slippery Rock University, and West Chester University.

Members of this committee will serve as liaisons between SHAPE PA and their universities. Their duties include monthly zoom meetings, reporting back to their universities, creating professional development opportunities for our future professionals through SHAPE PA, and assisting in projects and tasks assigned by the SHAPE PA Board of Directors (BOD).

Through their experiences on the FPAC, the students will work on developing their leadership skills, network with other students from different universities, learn what other programs and PHETE clubs are doing and share back to their campuses, develop planning and organizational skills, build teamwork skills, and have the opportunity to be published in the SHAPE PA Journal or online blog.

SHAPE PA 2021 Future Professional Advisory Committee members include chair Tonnie Croft (SRU), Samantha Brawner (ESU), Rachel Horrell (IUP), McKenzie Rhone (LHU), and Holland Zimmerman (WCU). Past President Colleen Wegimont will serve as the FPAC’s advisor.

Presently, there are two professional development opportunities for our future professionals. SHAPE PA is offering free professional development for all members, through Elevate 2.1. Sign up now and take advantage of this excellent opportunity to learn and grow. In addition, SHAPE America Eastern District is offering the Eastern District Future Professionals Leadership Madness Series. These free sessions will be held on Tuesdays, March, 2, 9, 16, and 23rd. Registration will be out soon.

Please feel free to reach out to your university representative with any suggestions and ideas for professional development. The FPAC will be busy planning for the SHAPE PA 100th Anniversary Conference, more information will follow! If your program or university is not currently represented, please contact, FPAC  Chair, Tonnie Croft at [email protected]
