Motion Challenge
The Challenge: 150 Minutes in Motion per week for April 7th – May 18th
Be one of the first 2000 to be part of the PSAHPERD Minutes in Motion School Challenge following the first ever American Eagle Outfitters
Tour of Pennsylvania presented by Highmark Healthy High 5. Cyclists from around the world will compete in
the Tour of PA in June, and your students can compete for prizes, too, through the Minutes in Motion School
Challenge made possible through Highmark Healthy High 5.
Through tips and facts included on the Student Log Sheets and web sites, teacher information and materials,
the “Minutes In Motion School Challenge” is ready-made and FREE to all PA educators. The challenge is
designed to be completed as extra-curricular activity at home utilizing the weekly log sheets.
To be part of this challenge contact:
- Upon registration of your school, you will receive: posters, hard copies of Student Log Sheets for all
6 weeks, a parent letter to be sent home explaining the challenge, web page copy, a copy of the
Student Completion Log to track student participation, and a wristband and t-shirt for you to keep.
- You will track ONLY those students that complete 150 minutes in three or more days. No more than 50
min. per day will be counted. Then email this list of students to the project coordinator listed above.
- All information is available for download (see below).
- For your participation your name will be put into a drawing for one of ten, $100 Flaghouse certificates.
Participants/students
- Any student who completes 150 minutes in motion (no matter the week) will receive a silicon
wristband, and one chance for each week of participation to win one of six bicycles
- Students completing five weeks will receive a T-shirt and five chances to win a bike. (For every
chance they receive, a ticket with their name on it is put into a box for the drawing for one of the
six bikes on June 1, 2008).
- Students completing all six weeks of the challenge will receive a T-shirt, an extra chance (total of
seven) in the drawing, plus a chance to meet the winning cyclists at the Tour of PA at each one of
the six stages from June 24 to June 29. Six individuals will be chosen, one from each of the six
regions coinciding with the Tour of PA stage finishes.
- The log sheets must be turned into the facilitator each week to be eligible for the incentives
Celebrate the Tour of PA
At each stage students, teachers and their families are eligible to win additional prizes at the Highmark
Healthy High 5 Finish Line Festivals at the following locations:
- Carlisle PA – Wednesday, June 25
- Bedford PA – Thursday, June 26
- Latrobe PA – Friday, June 27
- South Side Works, Pittsburgh, PA – June 28
- Downtown Pittsburgh, PA – June 29
