MISSION
The Early Childhood Division of the Pennsylvania State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, Inc. (PSAHPERD) is committed to the professional growth and development of individuals interested in and dedicated to the promotion and importance of developmentally appropriate high quality standards-based physical activity for all children three to five years of age.
GOALS
- Advocate for high quality movement programs for all children three to five years of age that have a significant impact upon the psychomotor, cognitive and affective learning domains;
- Uphold the critical importance early learning standards play upon shaping the developmentally appropriate framework for high quality movement programs;
- Recognize current research centered upon the study of early movement and physiological brain development during the critical periods of learning to impact young children’s motor, cognitive, social and emotional development;
- Serve as a resource for national consensus documents addressing physical activity recommendations for early childhood;
- Identify early childhood professional associations as resourceful links and education partners.
